Episode - Choose Your Story review
The description of Episode - Choose Your Story
Episode is a mobile game dedicated to the high school drama and romantic feelings, boiled by the hormones running in the students' blood. Design your own characters, live through various scenarios, learn the value of friendship and betrayal, compete with the school's beauty queens/kings and win the heart of your favorite boy/girl.
Episode lets you walk in the shoes of a high school teenager, drunken with passion, plagued with drama or poisoned with jealousy. According to the creators, there are more than 100, 000 stories and scenarios you can read and complete, choosing your own finale.
Honestly speaking, Episode is more of a collection of interactive visual novels. The only difference is that their art style isn't animeish.
In the beginning, you're given full freedom of customizing your love interest. You're allowed to select:
- Skin color/complexion.
- Facial features.
- Chin shape.
- Lip color etc.
In other words here you can create your perfect boo from scratch, giving him/her the looks of your dream. The same goes for your avatar. Before exploring highs and lows of a teenager's everyday life, you're suggested to create a virtual copy of you, with the same tools you've been provided when sculpting your dream love affair.
Besides, the Episode's scenarios are separated into various themes:
- Pretty little liars. Discover who's the mysterious evildoer blackmailing you and your friends.
- Baby Project. Your heart goes boom when you've been assigned a gorgeous partner during the Baby project.
- I married a prince. Your aristocratic family has made an agreement a long time ago to give their daughters as wives to the princes of a royal house. Will your new relationship ends up as a big love or tragedy?
And so on. It is a perfect soap opera simulator, only with a glossy, hip touch of the modern teen culture.
Apart from completing one story after another, you can also try your lucks as a visual novelist and create your own scenarios later to be shared with other Episode fans. A modern recreation of Romeo and Juliette with a ton of trash-talking instead of Shakespeare's poetry? Psychotic love obsession yandere-style? Murder & love mystery in your high school? You name it!
Episode looks like a glossy and a bit glamorous visual novel, with speech balloons appearing whenever characters want to share their thoughts, make a compliment or throw an insult in your face. It has neatly designed backgrounds, decorations and NPCs' looks that together convey an authentic atmosphere of a playable soap opera.
Everything required here is occasional tapping as you choose lines and actions your avatar is going to say aloud and do. It's very easy to control and won't cause any stress/fatigue.
