My Singing Monsters review
The description of My Singing Monsters
My Singing Monsters is a bizarre mobile game, in which you are to populate an island with groovy and funky monsters, who never stop singing and jamming and go on like this for hours and days (!) Watch as the sapient plants, fluffy & plush creatures, singing pieces of slime and other quirky characters harmonize together in a strange, but awesome choir/orchestra.
Nobody really knows how many jamming monsters there are in the game. And every one of them has a unique musical talent: some drum, others spill out savory guitar leaks. Some sing, others can throw a catchy bassline. And not to forget those cute-ugly guys, who stay at the DJ console, adding a modern vibe to this adorable acoustic chaos.
You can buy a few islands in the game, with every single one of them having a unique backbeat. As soon as you unlock or breed a new monster, you can put him on the scene and he begins to improvise on the flow of the rhythm and harmony he hears.
One of the super important parts of the game is earning golden coins. They are earned by monsters doing their musical escapades - probably every single one of them has a Patreon account. And then the earned cash can be put into:
- Cooking dishes. Monsters are gourmands, so don't be surprised if they demand something as exotic as Coconut Cheese.
- Obtaining objects.
- Expanding the habitat.
- Buying Decorations.
The latter play a very important role since Monsters feel way more inspired, whenever a decoration they love is placed nearby - it stimulates them to earn even bigger royalties for their concerts. Fire Bush, Dragon Statue, Beeyot Tree, Wild Bagpipe... Beware: some of them cost a whole fortune. Tips on each monster's preferences can be found in their biographies.
And whenever you decide all this acoustic mess is just too much for you, you can hush your monster-band to sleep: all of them or just some selected monsters. Interestingly, while playing with your cute-ugly musicians, you can learn the basics of how music arrangements work together, how instruments and voices make harmony and why some tunes can be so catchy.
The singing goofballs are designed in a very cute and hilarious manner, with some of them displaying absolutely nonsensical appearance (which indicates the dead brains in some monsters' heads). Decorations and surroundings are also on a decent artistic level and the jams... well they are strange but can be earworms for sure. Don't be surprised if you catch yourself humming one of those in the shower.
Managing your super-band isn't hard. Monsters are hushed/awoken through tapping and that's basically the only gesture you'll need. Works fine when controlling the singing guys, building the habitat, scrolling their biographies and so on.
